Volunteer Caregivers
are volunteers who help older adults with a variety of chores aimed at
helping them live well at home. Services include friendly visiting,
light housekeeping, transportation to appointments and errands, yard
work, minor home repair, support and respite for family caregivers, and
library book delivery.
Volunteers are individuals,
families, and groups who select an area of interest and serve based on
their availability.
Recipients are at least 60
years and living at home with a condition that is jeopardizing their
independence.
How to enroll or
volunteer
Call the Faith in Action office at 503-537-1549.
To sign up for volunteer
assistance, a staff member will make an appointment for a home visit.
Once a home visit has been made, requests for service should be made
with as much advance notice as possible, generally a minimum of three
days.
To volunteer, complete a
volunteer application and submit it to the Faith in Action office. You
will be interviewed, have your references and criminal history checked,
and receive training. Upon completion of these steps, you will be
matched with an assignment within your area of interest.
What is the cost?
There is no charge to the care recipient for services. Individuals may
make a donation to Faith in Action which keeps the program going
for others.
